Hopefully the French Quarter Waiters’ Race won’t be postponed again due to inclement weather. It was supposed to go down last Sunday, but got rained out. So far, it looks like it’s still on.
The event starts at 3:30pm with music from the Tornado Brass Band. The waiters, from 25 notable, local restaurants, will gather in front of Cafe du Monde and the race starts at 4. The route is down Decatur, starting at Cafe du Monde and going down to Ursulines. The waiters will be speedwalk carrying trays bearing water-filled tumblers. There will be a party and awards ceremony, with music from the Hot Club of New Orleans at the Gazebo Cafe after the race.
Come celebrate the skills of the noble waiter, so essential to our fair city.
