Reinventing the Crescent Phase 1 in Danger?

So, based on some posters I have seen around the Bywater neighborhood, and a post on the Reinventing the Crescent Facebook page, I hear that Phase 1 of this project might be in danger. One rumor is that the funding approved by the former mayor’s office is about to expire and needs the approval of the new mayor’s office. I also hear some buzz about a conspiracy to move the project Uptown (which, I guess, would mean implementing another phase of the master plan before Phase 1–which redevelops for public use most of the Riverfront between the French Quarter and the Industrial Canal.)

I need more information, so I will be attending a rally being held TOMORROW morning at 10 am at the corner of Mazant and Chartres. Let’s show the powers that be that we want the Riverfront plan to go forward!

I am definitely opposed to moving the riverfront development Uptown. I want the riverfront development to proceed downriver from the Quarter where it is needed most for residents in Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, and entire 9th Ward. Mayor Landrieu has the deciding vote I hope he hears loud and clear that Uptown residents support the proposal for downriver and want our tax money to go to current plan. If we want to move this city into this century we need to further develop downriver as continuation of green space sorely needed along river from Quarter to Industrial Canal as it is more accessible to larger portion of city as well as convenient for tourists. This will leave much more if a favorable impression of our city on all who visit New Orleans.
