Barbara Lynn at Rock N’ Bowl

Tonight Barbara Lynn, legendary soul and rhythm and blues singer and guitar player, is playing at Rock ‘N’ Bowl! 9:30pm, $10.

Originally from Beaumont, Texas, the sixty-eight year old has a long and interesting career, including touring with just about every legendary soul act of the sixties, and having one of her songs [“Oh Baby (We’ve Got A Good Thing Goin'”] recorded by the Rolling Stones. Tonight she is backed by Lil’ Buck Sinegal and the Top Cats. I don’t know much about them, so I’ll reprint this form the invitation I received:

Lil Buck Sinegal is a veteran of Clifton Chenier’s band and one of south La’s best guitar players. He has reformed his original powerhouse soul band from the 1960’s- the Top Cats- which includes Hammond B-3 organ maestro Stanley “Buckwheat Zydeco” Dural.

The event is presented by the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation, who are endlessly awesome.

Here’s Ms. Lynn performing her hit “You’ll Lose a Good Thing,” in the early sixties.
