Heels on Wheels vs. The Rodeo

So you know how if you try to record too many shows at one time your DVR makes you choose? Well, I think that a fundamental fork in my husband and my interests can be summed up by a choice our DVR made us make the other day. I had set to record RuPaul’s Drag Race and he had recorded The Ultimate Fighter. Now, in the Venn diagram of our interests most stuff lies in between, but these extreme parodies of masculinity and femininity tend to fall outside. And so, our occasional date night quandaries.

Queer performance-art cabaret anyone? I think this is going to be a hard sell to the husband, so, I’ll try it out here first, with a reprint from one of the performers’ blogs.

The Heels on Wheels Roadshow is a flashy femme caravan from Brooklyn touring the South with a queer performance-art cabaret. Starring dazzling troublemakers Heather Ács, Damien Luxe, Princess Tiny & the Meats, and Sequinette, the show features a multi-media format of high femme drag, electro music, and piercing, poetic theatre. Expect to see Dolly Parton transformations, stilettos flying, eggs breaking, and moods changing. Heels on Wheels delivers a trashy-fancy night of radical extravagance and thought-provoking glamour.

$5. 10 p.m. at the AllWays Lounge.

Whereas, he would probably rather postpone our date ’til tomorrow and go see the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series at New Orleans Arena. tickets start at $10. 8 p.m.

When these guys get it together, all our problems will be solved.
