Bounce Fest!

Bounce has been around for a while, remember “Back That Azz Up?”

But lately, it seems like it has taken New Orleans by storm. Heck, it nearly took the nation by storm. Did you hear about that guy from La Place last year on “So You Think You Can Dance?” This thing isn’t going away, so it’s just a matter of time people.

So, when something gets this big, it’s bound to get it’s own festival. Today from noon-9 is the First Annual Bounce Festival at 800 Jackson Ave. at Annunication. The line-up includes several sissy bounce acts, too. Here’s Big Freedia and Katey Red in a photo I absolutely adore.

At some point you’re going to work up an appetite from all of that booty shaking. Luckily, you are a couple of blocks from Stein’s, the amazing Jewish and Italian deli that opened up not too long ago in the Lower Garden District. With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I’ve had corned beef on the brain, so Ima have to get a Reuben (Hot Corned Beef, Swiss and Sauerkraut on Rye Bread with Russian Dressing, $10.99).

They also have amazing beer and fancy soft drink selection. You can’t drink on the premises, but that’s okay, we have a party to get back to anyway. I’ll get a Southern Star (a microbrewery form Texas) Bombshell Blonde because it’s good, cheap, and comes in a can, which I can drink on the street. Now, let’s get back to the party!
